IASH Kavi Sammelan Draws Good Response

BUENA PARK, CA - Indo-American Senior Heritage (IASH) held its second Kavi Sammelan at the Jain Center here, on June 7. More than 550 people attended the event and joined in enjoying the humorous look at life as presented by three well known Kavis.
Satirist Om Prakash Aditya, is among the best-known humorists of Hindi literature and he did not disappoint with his interpretation on the small and large things of life. Rajesh Chetan, a visionary poet of nationalistic and patriotic nature brought his unique vision to the evening. Baba Mourya, who has performed at several venues in many countries was able to judge the mood of the audience and get them to join him in poking fun at the vagaries of life. Their forceful voices keptthe audience involved and made it a memorable evening.
At the event, IASH President Uka Solanki outlined the goals of the organization. He said it was actively working toward having a community center to provide a daily gathering place for community members. He also detailed the various activities that the group has been undertaking including health fairs and out of town trips for seniors. Vice-President B.U.Patel spoke of the need to engage and take care of senior citizens in the community. Earlier, Pushpa Chandra introduced the kavis. The vote of thanks was given by IASH Secretary Anil Parikh.
